Today marks the first official release on home away from home with missgene's debut album, Penpal.




Spanning eight tracks, Penpal fluidly combines the introspective tones of nu-new age emo ambient with the dubbed-out, DIY proto-dance sounds of the late ’80s. Grand piano voice memo recordings are Paulstretch’d to infinity, intertwined with FM synths and drum machine bursts that channel the weightless, post-techno energy of Barker, as if rediscovered on a grainy VHS of a once-lost late-night public access broadcast.




Thank you to those who've pre-ordered and supported the release, tapes and prints will be shipping next week! I was finally able to get some better pics now that they're in hand, so please enjoy this janky collage of the prints (hand model: Emma Jones). 





The matte metallic silver print (right) doesn't really show well in photos but it looks so nice in person. Prints are sold as a set of three (you get one of each colour), handmade by missgene with design by Jayke Maddison. We only have 7 sets left on Bandcamp so be quick!
